shock suggestions

Hi guys, looking for some suggestions on what shocks to buy. My ranger is a 1989 model 2wd with a 2.3. Just a plain jane stock truck. I replaced all 4 shocks last year with just some cheap oem type HD shocks and the thing rides like a brick with wheels. It will beat you to death, it rides so rigid. The roads where I live are all pretty much crap. Im still sporting the stock springs also. Im looking for a shock that rides very smooth and comfortable that doesnt beat your brains out. There are soo many different shocks on the market, its hard to choose what is best. Been leaning toward the KYB GR-2 series but I dont know. Any input would be greatly appreciated. This truck is a daily driver. The only thing it hauls around is pretty much me. Thanks fellas.

i replaced my shocks whe i first lifted my truck.i used shock extenders on the front and bought skyjacker shocks for the rear,and noticed when i go over speed bumps,its a little rougher on the front than the back.I dont know if skyjacker offers the smoothest riding shocks but they are better than what i have on the front(gottem at auto zone i think)

I use Monroe Sensa-trac shocks on my 92 ranger. They are a tad pricey but the ride is superb. I have folks ride with me and say my truck rides as well as the 2 yr old vehicle they own.

I put a set of KYB in a truck thy did not last more than 30k and thy seem to like to launch you up on the rebound. Ranchos 5000 nice if you have it loaded down, but its a stiff ride, I have tried a set of Procomp is not much better.
In fact i am taking my Procomps out and replacing them with a set of bilstens this weekend
