Its time to replace the shocks on my truck. When I put the lift on a few years ago. I got new shocks from Summit, I just told them my truck and that I was putting on a 4-inch lift. I plan to do more off-roading with my truck now. I would like to know if there is a certain shock that I should buy that may allow more travel? or be better for my application. Right now I have a basic 4-inch lift. I do plan on building longer trailing arms in the future. Any advice would be great

What size (length) are the shocks you have now?
You may need to modify your shock MOUNTS for more travel.

Not sure how long they are. I will measure them if you want. I just bought some off the shelf shocks for a four inch lift. What kind of modifying? Like a taller upper mount or something?

Most of the shocks that are specified for a 4" lift are usually around 17.5-18.5" long extended. You might be able to get one about 20-21" long on there, but you'd have to check that the shock doesn't bottom out by cycling the suspension (lower your bumpstops if needed).

Beyond that, you will have to modify the mounts (taller upper mount and/or lower bottom mount).
