Shock Lengths

Alright gentleman, and ladies, The truck is sitting on her own wheels again, however I still need to purchase shocks. I am running skyjacker 6 inch coils up front with F-250 shock mounts, and I am running 63's with 2 inch (longer) Belltech shackles in the rear.

97 Ranger with 4.0. If anyone has the dimensions for either the front or rear shocks (extended and compressed) running these setups I would be very greatful.

A big variable is how you placed those f-250 mounts.

A good way to check what shocks you need for the front is to jack the truck up by the frame, remove the coil spring, then cycle the suspension from full extension to full compression (up against the bumpstop) with a jack while taking measurements.

Finding the rear lengths is a bit tougher (can't just remove the springs to cycle it), although usually you'll get pretty close by using a shock that sits exactly at mid-travel while the truck is at rest on the ground (example: if you have 24" between the rear shock mounts at rest, a 30" long shock with 12" of travel is what you'll want).
