I am looking to upgrade the shock absorbers on my stock height (plan on cranking the t-bars maybe 1") '06 FX4. I'm an old Koni fan, but notice they don't make shocks for the Ranger. :bawling:

With so many brands out there, what have been the more popular brands and MODEL of shock that will soften the ride yet still do the job?

I love the Koni's because they float on the freeway/streets, yet know what to do when put through their paces.

So, where do I go from here, Rancho, Pro Comp, Monroe, Tokico, Bilstein, "___"? Remote reservoir (is it even available for the Ranger @ stock height?)? Single/mono tube? Twin/dual tube?

I'd sure appreciate any advice! (price is not much of an object...within reason of course)

Thank you so much! :icon_thumby:

Awesome! No disagreements here....and the very first two replies!

Simply awesome! You've saved me a lot of wondering "am I making the right choice" ....

THANK YOU! :icon_hornsup:

camburg has a 2.0 upgrade which includes shocks and limit straps (stock shocks are your limiter) which will GREATLY improve the ride. adjustable valving, fully rebuildable and relatively inexpensive.

x4 for the Bilsteins...got em on my 05 trac...love em.

OK, so I chased down the part numbers (I think):

Front: F4-BE5-2794-HO
Rear: F4-BE5-2795-HO

Bilstein lists them for $135 each. I've found them for $65 and $71 respectively at west coast off road.com

Any sources favored by the membership here?

Thanks guys!
