wasnt sure wether to post this here or 3.0 forum, but my question is has anyone tried or is it even possible to put the 3.0 or 3.2 exhaust manifolds on a 3.0 vulcan. if not are there more free flowing manifolds/headers for the 3.0 besides the $800 jba set

I doubt very much that SHO manifolds would fit because the heads are totally different. I think Pacesetter makes headers for the 3.0 but the quality is not as good as JBA's.

Not even close to the same engine. The SHO engine is built by Yamaha.

unrelated note: the sho motor has been put in the ranger... by ford... :D it is known as the sho ranger! sadly there is next to no info on it, was never put past prototype, and as far as i can find, only 1 was ever made... but it's a SICK truck, i would buy one if they came out as designed in the 80's...

and even if the sho headers were to bolt to your heads, they wouldn't work anyways... the v6 sho is a transverse FWD, you would have the exhaust coming out the passenger wheel well, not towards the transmission

i know its a completely different motor, but wasnt sure about retro fitting. i knew the sho taurus was front w drive but a little cutting and welding would fix the flow path. im gonna check out pacesetters soon. thanks for all the thoughts

if you are going to do that kind of cutting and welding, just build a set of your own for your truck... it's really not hard, take an exhaust manifold gasket, trace the outline and all the holes onto a piece of steel (thicker gauge) cut that out, and start welding to that...

Just a little foot note here
My research say's that the SHO Yamaha 3.0 bolts to a ranger 3.0 bell housing.

Seriously? 800 for JBA headers? Go to the MAC website, MACUSA I think it is and buy a set of headers for 3-400, I bought a set of long tubes from MAC for my 3.8 mustang and they fit awesome sounded awesome and werent that expensive at all. I had to buy the offroad h-pipe and customize my muffler back portion, but that was because I bought long tubes with dont fit with factory tubes. the shortys fit just fine.

Long tubes, offroad hpipe, and flowmaster 40's, I used the flanges from my cats that mysteriously fell off and welded the flanges to the front of my mufflers, then did turn downs before the rear axles and had a completely modular exhaust. Talk about a sick rumble.

yes it does, there was a sho ranger, running a 3L SHO motor, and 5L mustang t5, however it had the v6 bell housing, this was made by ford, i think i mentioned it in one of my previous posts

that's about the extend to the comparability between motors i believe... it was designed to be dropped in, as a whole to most of the ford vehicles
