Shipping prices ???

How does everyone figure shipping for things on here? I have never shipped anything & am trying to figure out how to come up with a price. I stopped at a copy, pack, & mail store today & they told me $50.00 for 2 flat door panels & 2 arm rests from middle Tn to Northern Ky. That seems extremely high.

Sorry for the stupid question, I gotta learn somehow.

Most are going by dimensional weight now; you need to know how big of a box you need. If it's irregularly shaped, then you measure the greatest dimensions as if it were in a box. I know more about UPS, but they have a large package surcharge that is pretty expensive. Depends on the carrier and what not and what they required for the estimate. Sounds almost close enough to make the drive IMO.

I'm starting to think that myself, it is a 4-1/2 hr drive one way though. The box is gonna have to be app. 3 ft by 2 ft, & I believe they figured it at app. 6 pnds. This is all new to me, I didn't think it would be so difficult.
