Shifting Issue

I recently bought a 2000 Ranger 4.0 4wd. When I bought it i was told it needed a clutch so I had it replaced. Everything was fine for a while and then the shifting started getting stiff. Now it actually hurts your shoulder to drive the truck and can be so hard to get into gear I fee that i'm going to break the actual shifter. First idea I got was to try and smoke the clutch, so I did that and it shifted great for about 2 days and now i'm back to where I was. Sometimes when coming to a complete stop I have to shut the truck off to get it into a gear. Double clutching works sometimes and others i basically have to run the rpms up and pump the clutch hoping it will go into gear. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When they replaced the clutch did they replace the slave cylinder? Hard shifting could be a slave cylinder on its way out. I know it was when my slave went out.

No only the clutch, throwout bearing, and pressure plate. Also had the master cylinder changed out as well. Slave seems to be the idea that has come up the most, so its really looking like thats the direction I should head in.

Yeah... that will most likely be the issue... The M50Ds are notorious for the slaves going out.

Bought the slave today, got the tranny dropped and putting new slave in tommorow morning. Will update with details, I ran it a little longer than i wanted too with it the way it was, hope it didn't screw them up.

Ok so I changed the slave and when we did we opened up the bleeder and no fluid came out so we pumped the clutch and managed to get it flowing. For some reason though the shifter is better but still stiff. Any ideas? Also while i was in there i went ahead and replaced clutch again so would this have anything to do with it being stiff? Thanks for any answers/suggestions
