I need a shifter (upper shift lever) for my truck. What years will fit? I have seen from 04 to 11, and 93 to 11. Would like to know for sure. Seems they are not available from Ford, so I'm down to junk yards and fields.
The Story;
Just bought the truck. It has a pistol grip for a shifter ball and I don't like it. Can't get it off so far and I don't know what the "genius" did to put it on. I thought about taking it out of the truck and using a vise and a BFH to remove it,but there is already a spot just above the shifter boot where someone took a hacksaw to it. He didn't go very deep, but makes me wonder what I would find if I did tear the grip to pieces to get it off.
I call him "genius" because the truck has a glass pack muffler, man it sounds good! Took a look under the truck, the muffler and pipe don't match in size, so someone just filled the gap with weld. hahahaha

Anyway, any help would be appreciated!

2001 and up rangers I believe. They have the M5OD-R1HD version that has a different amount of shifter travel.

The upper portion of the shifter is interchangeable from 98+ The older ones have the lock bolt clocked 90*

The shorter throw started in 95ish, it didn't affect the upper portion of the arm, just the stub and trans top plate/cover.

You can use the older style stub in your trans as long as is has the shorter throw (95-98 years) this way you can use the older shift lever.

I might have an older short throw stub floating around if you need it.

Thanks for the replies. So I'm good from 01 to 11?
Thanks for the offer PlumCrazy, if it gets to that point I will just live with what I have now.
Got a line on a couple of salvage yard close by that should have what I need.

01+ should be a direct bolt on.
