Ordered the parts for the bushing replacment....get in there and find that the slip bolt is stripped on one side and only about a quarter inch exposed on the other(rear) side.

How can I get this shifter off if the slip bolt wont budge and is stripped?

Can I use a C clamp and try to force it back through so I can get to some threads on the other side?

Thats the only thing I can think of besides removing the inner plate with the 3 hex heads and pulling the whole assembly out.....but Id still have the same problem.....how do I get that stripped slip bolt out?

Thanks

I would pull the entire assembly out, with the three torx bolts.

Then, use a C-clamp or a vice to push the bolt out of there. Use a big socket on the stripped side, so that the bolt has somewhere to go when you start cranking on the c clamp.

If you need one of those bolts then just shoot me a PM. I have an entire drawer full of them and will give you one for free. You would just have to pay shipping which shouldn't be barely anything at all.

Alright, I just took the whole assembly out last night. Once out, I was able to pound the bolt through. Got the bearings in top n bottom. ....Feels a bit better but still wont go into 1st too easily.

Eh...start small n cheap right.
Thanks for the help guys

Won't go into 1st easily?

Try going into 2nd, then 1st. I bet it will slide ride in.

Ya thats what I have to do at every single stop light, stopsign, or stop for that matter. I use 4th then into 1st. A real pain in the ass doing that constantly on the daily driver round Chicago.

And now there is a ton of slop in the shifter. Like what it should feel like BEFORE the bearing replacment. Cant imagine I put it back together wrong, as everything is keyed to only fit one way.

Guess I get to take it apart again:icon_confused:
