Not really sure what it is exactly that I have in the 5 speed trans, but it is mis-shappen (almost broke) blue plastic, attaches to the shifter arm and fits into the shift fork cup. Looks to have once been a ball shaped bearing like the ones on the end of a a V-dub shifter.

Question: What size is it, and where can you get a new one??

it is a shifter bushing they used to be like $15 at the dealer but I think toyota has discontinued them

update: I used a round nylon heater knob from a PRE 1968 V-dub, modified

outside diameter 17 mm
inside dia 9 mm (3/8 drill worked perfect)
