I have a 1992 ranger 2.3 5sp that has been leaking trans fluid out of the plugs for the shift rods. I was wondering if I could get away with sealing them up with some rtv sealant, or if there was a different plug I could put in to replace the rubber plugs.

Check the tech section at the top of every page. I believe the recommended practice is to use frost plugs but I think the trans has to be out to do that. There are also rubber expansion plugs that are used to replace hard to reach plugs that may be easier to fit.
