Well, it's been four years...finally tried starting the 2.3 after putting it back together...found out there was no spark...fixed the coil connector...still no start...adjusted the distributor...sprayed some Quick Start down her throat and cranked her...she started up and ran for about three minutes without the fuel line attached (hmmm, maybe Quick Start as a fuel alternative!)...
Anyways, the reason I'm posting now is because the top end was rebuilt but the bottom end has been sitting for four years without much more than the odd hand crank to move things around...
My questions are:
1. How long does it take to break in a new head?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations about oil additives to maybe make sure things on the bottom end will remain sealed?
I kept oil in the pan all this time and did crank it over once in a while by hand.
I was thinking of running it for a couple of hours and then changing the oil...got some of that high mileage oil to put in it but thought maybe the seals might need some additional help considering how long it sat...
TIA!
