Funny how you dont really pay attention to things until you have to have them , LOL. menards wants 13 dollars for a 6" x 21" piece of sheet metal !! :shok:

Where do you guys get yours from ? I can get a fender or two from the bone yard for next to nothing ,but that means I have to clean it. and plain old sheet metal has now become , ahem 'weldable" lol.

Get it from any metals place (same place you'd buy your rollcage/rockslider tubing).

I wanna say a piece of 20ga steel about 2½ x 4 feet (scrap or remnant) should be around $20 (I've paid about $35 for similar pieces in aluminum).

Our 4'x12" sheets of .030 aluminum we use in the racecars are $55 ea. Haven't priced steel lately though, other than our chromoly tubing which is $4.50-$11.25 a foot.

Ain't nothin cheap anymore...

You just have to find the right place to buy it, we may build drag cars, but we get materials from the steel supplier, local dealers, even aircraft suppliers. You can save a bunch of money if you can make a big order like $1000+.
