Shaved door handles

I am shaving my doorhandles and was wondering if anyone knew anything about how to use the lock to pop the door open with the key instead of poppers? I've seen it done but I don't know if theres a kit for it or a "backyard" way to do it?

just pop the door lock pushrod off the lock cylinder and attach the latch pushrod. you may have to make some interesting bends or a custom pushrod to get everything to line up properly (been a while since ive been in a ranger door)...but it should easily be do-able.
