I've been fishing for and watching various how-to videos on how to teach yourself to be an automotive "technician" (hehe - that one's for you Ranger44!). Anyhoo, I found what appears to be some really good videos and in the following clip, the monkey uses a Sharpie to save himself $80. Sounds like a good deal to me! I thought it was cool, and I wanted to bring some attention to the really good videos in case any other n00bs like me needed some good resources. All that technicianing looks like so much fun - I can't wait to buy myself my first project 4x4 to monkey around with (see, "monkey" just sounds better!). Here's the vid:

Too bad that they don't come with those caster/camber eccentrics from the factory. From the factory they have a preset 'eccentric' that isn't adjustable, you have to install the adjustable ones while replacing the upper control arms.

Why not just learn how to do an alinment. Its not the hardest thing to do. Granted this is a short cut, but does it work 100% of the time?

if the vehicle is already aligned correctly, and you line it back up correctly, then yes it would work 100% of the time i believe

I know somebody that uses the same kind of meathod in the shop. He even takes the old steering linkage and lines up the new steering linkage. It's a time saver. He still checks the alignment on the machine but it is generally in spec. or requires only minor tweaking.
