shackel flip

ok so why do you have to turn the hanger around for a shackel flip cant you just un bolt the shackel and flip it around?

im not trying it yet but wondering

It's the hanger that has to be flipped. The shackle is different on both ends. One side goes around the leaf spring bushing while the other sits inside the hanger.

No, I don't think that would work. When you flip the hanger, it moves the shackle up in relation to stock. The rivets aren't that bad to do once you do a few. I was cutting an X in the heads with my dremel and then using the air chisel to finish the heads off and then punching them through. By the time I was done replacing my leaf spring hardware, I was amazed at how fast I had gotten.

the flip lifts the rear of your leaf springs which lowers the truck.

and would you do this or an axle flip to drop your truck about 2 inches

and does this limmit your towing any

im new to the idea of lowering but the rangers just look better low

Yes same holes with grade 8 bolts, lock washers and nuts.

Axle flip is 4 inchs of drop.

Doesn't affect towing at all as you don't change your leaf pack. DON'T CHANGE YOUR LEAVE PACK! lol

Flipping the shackle doesn't cost you travel and in most cases impoves the ride quality. Most trucks now come stock that way and all the prerunners that use leaves do the shackle flip to increase travel. I used 1/2 inch on mine, you will have to drill out the holes slightly but bigger hardware is always better.

I used 1/2" - 13 X 1" grade 8, cad plated bolts with plated, NyLock nuts with flat washers on both sides of the frame rails. I got everything at my local Hi-Strength Bolt distributor. I believe the whole shebang cost me ~$15.
