I'm waiting until I change the bumpers to proper off road ones before I bother with the fogs. That probably won't happen until the 2011 is where I want it. It needs a locker, 4.56 gears, off road bumpers and skid plates. An LSD in the front axle would be a great bonus.

The 2019's primary missions are the family truckster and backup vehicle incase the primary driving vehicles break.

I remembered to get pictures of the PPE aluminum transmission pan. It's a standard capacity pan and more importantly, it has a drain plug. So far, it looks like it keeps the transmission temperature about 10 degrees cooler. For those who are having temp problems, this might be part of the solution. If you aren't getting above 225 degrees, you won't have reason for concern. The ideal range is between 175 to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Since this is a modern vehicle, running too cool is a problem as well since it will make the computer think it's still in warm up mode and will run rich.

Getting the transmission up to temperature sooner is better for the transmission and will help save fuel in the winter. So, I added an oil pan heater as well.

AFAIK the Powertrax No-Slip is the only L/S available for the Gen 4-5 front axle.

Yes, but this is a thread for a gen 6.

I was going to say that earlier... but it never sticks. Even though the guy that pays the bills around here says it a gen 6.

I am confused. The guys that have the newer Rangers call the 2019-2023 Rangers 5G and 2024 6G. Am I misunderstanding something, or do they have it wrong?

According to @Jim Oaks ... they have it wrong.

Plus the 2012+ World Ranger is also called the T6. My guess it stands for truck 6. The 2019+ Ranger is a modified version of it for the North American market. There is also a 6G forum along with a 5G forum. So, I supposed it depends on who you ask. There are some that argue there is even less versions of the Ranger based strictly on general body style. I choose to go with the site owner on this one.

The original "all terrain" tires that are really highway terrain tires that came with the truck are finally pretty much worn out and the winter tires I bought for the thing are worn out as well. So, the winter tires got replace with mud tires and since steel rims are easier to field repair, if they get bent, the mud tires got mounted on those rims. I had thought about getting a set of 16" rims, now that they are more readily available and no longer insanely priced, so that I could have more side wall. Comparing 16" tire dimensions to 17" tire dimensions, there really wasn't a huge difference and I would then have a set of rims to sell off or get rid of. So, I went with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro in 265/70R17. It happened to be the least expensive option of the tires available, which was a nice bonus.

Cooper Discover ST Pro tire compared to the old/original Hankook Dynapro AT-M (RF10) tire.

Looks good, im normally nit a fan of black rims but they work well with your truck.

I think it's the paint color that makes the difference. The silver rims stand out more with the dark color, almost like a sore thumb as opposed to the 2011 with the red paint. The silver rims "blend" better.

Man i love thos steelies. I wouldnt mind finding a set. I see the factory sport wheels for sale around here on marketplace for around 200. Never ever see the steelies. Ive been watching for a set off the bronco black diamond. That way i can just swap tires since they are 17s. Looking good man.

They only come with the truck as a rim for the spare. So anything you see out there in the used market are going to be one at a time. Since most people don't do a 5-tire rotation, if they roatate their tires at all, I imagine getting a matching rim for the spare isn't a priority.

@Robertmangrum.rm - you might try rockauto for plain steelies like that, when I got a extra set of rims for my hhr for winter they looked a lot like those. The rims on my ‘09 escape are a “spare only” Im not sure who else deals in the dorman product line or if dorman has their own site you could directly order from.
apologies to @sgtsandman for the “sidetrack “.
