Sgt Ex

Started using my bender yesterday. Still don't have the whole angle part down yet, but started with a rear bumper.

Then I built some bumper brackets and a bar that actually will protect some of the body

I built the bottom part, but thought it looked goofy, so I cut the lower off and am going to raise it to where it is flush with the bottom of the frame.

I also didn't like the rock/mud catcher. I decided I wanted something that bent inward towards the frame rather than outward as it is.

As for the gaps, I am dimple dieing 1/8" plate to add rigidity and looks to the bumper. I'm hoping it will look good.

When you busted the rear light did it wrinkle the back hatch?

After ready all 31 pgs I sure hope you find another hood & FIX that dang passenger fender so it allows the hood to shut all the way down on that side.

Where are you located BIG BLUE NATION?

no.

That will likely never happen lol. As long as it latches, I'm happy

yep. Sad day for the BBN yesterday. Oh well. 3 out of 4 ain't bad

Got the bumper all welded up, now going to look up how to use a dimple die set so i can add some strength to it. The bumper probably weighs 25-30 lbs compared to the easily 50+ pound bumper that was on there. Trying to save weight wherever I can.

Here is the new design. This is just the tacked picture.

If you look at these pictures compared to the first design, you will notice the differences

I raised the lower tube up about 1/2", which in turn pushed it out, then I flipped the "ears" to keep from having something that i could easily see getting snagged on a root/rock/etc.

Here you can see how much tighter to the body this new design is compared to the old. I can still use a ratchet to get to the bumper bolts, and the tube stays tight enough to the bumper bolts to protect them.

Looks awesome i like the corners at the bottom how theyre reversed to the way they normally would be

I couldn't figure out how i would tie the bottom in with them turned that way. What i ended up doing is cutting a piece of scrap tube in half, cutting a 45* in it, pie cutting it, then beating the shit out of it to wrap from the bottom up the tube. I feel like this will help with strength on a point that I am sure is going to need it. Once I get everything cleaned up to where I like it, I will post some pictures of it before I add the 1/8"

Done for now. Going to add some D ring mounts when I get paid.

looks good, but I would have incorp a hitch reciever in there

Because this truck tows so much :thefinger:

Looks good, but would have looked better if the dimples were out, not in :thefinger:

SVT

Not that, I just like that extra security if you ever happen to rip your d-rings off.

I was just giving you a hard time.

I plan on putting one in there too. Didn't have the money for the receiver yet. It will likely require me to notch out both tubes, but that will give me more places to weld them in
