i have a 67 289 in my bronco II,
specs
stock 2bbl 289.
Duraspark conversion
mc 2150 carb off a 351w

has electric choke, and exhaust line runs to it.

any how the questions.
1. timing, i dont have the pointer, but i am able to get it running, is there any way to set the timing by ear?
2. the idle was way high when i started it probally 1500, easy, and the idle scew is backed all the way off, so it there any pointers to get the idle to come down/tune the carb. i didnt have the choke hooked up(does it have to be hook to an exhust gas port, or can i cap it off and just use the 12v power supply?
that and fix a few small leaks, clean the wiring up, and she should be ready to go, actually got her to move on her own power yesterday, but still got alot to do.

sounds like a combination if too much idle fuel as its off a 351, timing advanced a bit and some possible vac leakage if its burnin clean.

i would order a pointer, get out the vac gauge and adjust er up.

i should have clarified the 351 comment...after you nail down the vac leaks you will likely need to rejet the carb ans reset the idle mix
