Just swaping a 85 ranger rear end into my 89 bronco 2. The bronco has a sensor tapped into the rear end. What is it for? The 85 has nothing.what is the best way to deal with this wire?

I may be wrong on this, so don't quote me.......I think the sensor is for the anti-lock rear brakes. Maybe you can just plug the sensor hole? I don't think it is going to matter if it is hooked up. May turn on a dash light??

Yes, rear ABS brake sensor.

what is the result of not hving it? Will it mess up my brakes? There is no hole on the rear end I am putting in.

It will cause your rear antilock not to work and throw a code. Pull the little light behind the gauge cluster and forget about it.
