I was replacing my drive belt yesterday. I noticed that a sensor was terminated on the air intake. I thought that this was not right so I reconnected the sensor and took it on a test drive. It seems to have more pep and more throttle response. Just curious as to what it is and thought what better place to ask the question, what is this sensor.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor. It is used for a few things in the PCM but one of the more important is ignition timing correction for air temp.

Thanks for the quick response. :D Would there be any reason they had it terminated? I couldn't think of any gains in that. :icon_confused:

When you say "terminated", do mean someone actually put a jumper across the connector?

Glad your engine is running stronger, now that the ECU has REAL data to work with.

it was probably unplugged at some point so someone could remove the intake tube and never got plugged back in.

That is exactly what I meant. 10 years in the military will do that to ya. :derisive:

ahh, ill bet someone thought they were fooling the PCM into dumping more fuel into the engine.

must have been someones ill-informed attempt at getting more power.

AIT sensor. Why the hell they did it is like trying to guess why do men have titties... Hummmmmmm. Interesting thought for another Forum...
