senior project

so im a senior this year in high school and we have to do a big project on something that weve never done before so i figured i would build up a engine. i found a 302 near where i live and it is $245 and it says it has light lifter noise. the only thing i was planning on doing for this project was replace all the gaskets and seals and cleaning it up and painting it. if it has light lifter noise can i just replace the lifters,pushrods,rockers etc. or do i have to get into more stuff like boring the heads and all that?

Well if it has a lifter noise that prolly means it has quite a few miles on it... those lifters are probably mushroomed over at the bottem and they are going to be a pain to get out but replace those and the rockers and pushrods if u want to and send it down the road

the engine im looking at is fuel injected and i want carburated what all is involved in switching it over besides the intake manifold?

You will either want to change the fuel pump or get a good regulator. The lifter noise may also be a result of a dying oil pump or a seriously worn camshaft. While you are changing the oil pan gasket, slap in a new oil pump. Cheap insurance.

im not gonna have the 302 in the truck so i shouldnt have to put a fuelpressure regulator on it right or is that for even if its not in a truck? i dont have a electric fuel pump in my truck i have a mechanical
