ok so I am wanting to build a car from ground up for fun.

list of criteria

hold 3 passengers ( 1 adult 2 children)
great handling
good mileage
more than likely will be powered by a Harley twin cam

I have the fabrication skills just un sure on where to start with suspension

Don't start by building the suspension. Start by deciding what kind of suspension you want, then build a frame to accommodate it.

Since this is a passenger car, by the sounds of it, I assume you would want an independent front end, so then you have to decide if you want to go SLA or McPherson, and then you have to decide what rear suspension you want to use, independent or solid.

This sounds like a fun project.

I will be doing independent all the way around

OK, so you still need to decide if you are doing SLA or McPherson in the front.

Is this thing going to be FWD, RWD, or AWD?

Isn't there a formula somewhere to determine how many HP is optimum for the weight of the vehicle? Not sure how much the Harley twin cam puts out...maybe that would be a better engine for my truck...if it puts out more than my awesome 88 HP (minus whatever it has lost due to being wonky) I'd be happy~!
