And I must say, it was pretty sexy.

I wish I had a camera, it was lifted maybe 4" and had either alot of backspacing, or extended axles since it was so wide. I'm guessing alot of backspacing. Offroad "bumper" on the front, really just a grill guard but still pretty badass. They must have had to remove some of the bumper to make it fit in. It had rock sliders, and a mess of offroad lights. Usually when I see something like this I think "Mall crawler" but it had mud and torn up grass/branches all over it. Looked like they just got done with some snow wheeling on the nice warm ground.

Anyone know the specs on these?

gen1 or 2? was it white? what color?

there's a few guys over on the xterra forum i'm on with some pretty badass rigs. a good upgrade is throwing Titan axles underneeth 'em for strength and wider track width.

Had to be gen two, and it was blue. Almost like ford's sonic blue. Which struck me as odd, because I've never seen a second generation xterra in blue.

yeah...there's no 2nd gen X painted in any bright blue at all. There's two dark blues though on 2nd gen's. What your probably thinking about is the Gen 1.5(like 02-04).....color is alot like Ford Grabber blue...

Nope, it had the gen 2 front end for sure. It was either painted blue by the owner, or they swapped front ends. I don't think the second one is possible so probably a respray.

I have a gen 2.They are great trucks.Gen1 's are crude and underpowered. The only blue they have right now is navy blue. Most of the x's are black, slate or silver

^^They got Night Armor which is a sorta dark grey/dark blue/dark green all mixed together. Really neat color and it's my fave.

That's what I have too.Perfect color for that truck :icon_thumby:

HAHA! I got my "the new X.org" decals coming.....and I don't even have an X yet! haha! Whats your screename over there? I think I'm like Xwannabe? lol. I've narrowed it down to a 06-08 Off Road Night Armor with the 6spd manual that i'll put the 09+ X and S model headlights onto. Drove a white 06OR 6spd a few weeks back....want one sooooo bad! Gen1's suck period. Only thing good about 'em is that the 1.5's look good and come in bright ass orange. lol.

I think tonight i'll do a hardcore hunt on the member's X's section to find this truck the OP posted up about. Maybe post up a link to this thread if I come up empty handed.

I was this close to buying a supercharged 2002 Atomic Orange Xterra back then when they were new. One of my automotive regrets.:dntknw: One of the others is a new 92 reg cab/short box 4x4 Ranger.

I guess I'll answer that. lol.

265hp DOHC 4.0 v6 with either a 5spd auto or 6spd manual. Off road models got a locking rear diff and hill decent control. Manuals got a cool clutch cancel switch which lets you start it without the clutch. Tons of backseat room that my 5'11'' figure fits very nicely into and comfortably for hours. All around a very comfortable ride with pretty good visibility....better than my ranger. Fabtech I think has a 5.5" lift for them and getting 3" of lift is pretty easy and cheap using spacers or a taller coil-over or just a taller coil, etc....tons of options there for the 2.5-3" lift.

Overall...they're a comfortable capable rig that you can take your family out on the trail with ya. That's the reason I want one someday. Not to mention...they just look COOL! lol.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks! I feel exactly the same way, I was going to go the Explorer route once I have kids (or get a dog) but they just feel bland to me, I don't know why.

The ranger and the Zx2 are definitely not kid friendly, and dogs belong in the cargo space. I HATE dog hair on the seats of my Zx2. I finally got it all cleaned out from the previous owner.

I have an S model and is pretty much stock-I bought it for me and the wife highjacked it.I now drive the minivan;brownbag;.I wished I got the 6spd but they are next to impossible to get or find at the dealership

From what I've read about the 1st gens, they were pretty crude and rode like buggys...oh yeah they didn't have the sweet 4.0 that they have now.The 3.3 were dogs and the 2.5 i4 were even worse. But they came with really rad colors-yellow,blue and orange.

This guy in our club has a coilover lift, not sure of the brand, of about 3". He's not afraid of wheeling it.
