I have a 1987 Ranger Super Cab that I am trying to swap in the door panels out of a 89 ranger. I already have the inside handle and the armrest bracket in. What do I have to do to get the top of the door panel in place? I removed the felt from the door panel as the felt is already on my door. I also have the vent windows and want to keep them.

they should just fit on. 1st gens had the option for full door panels on the deluxe interior.

but ive never tried so im not 100% positive

You mean those full panels that are nearly impossible to find? Those are the one thing I am unable to find, that I want for the interior of my truck.

Thinking about I'm not sure if I have ever see a pic of those full panels in a first gen with vent windows. Did the second gen trucks even offer them?

Actually the Bronco II (1987 XLT) that we got our 5 speed tranny, manual transfer case, clutch pedal assembly, front drive shaft, and manual window regulators (and all for $200) had the full panels and they are in fact first gen panels cause they have the square handle. We would have used them but the tops were to faded for my liking.

Really, you have them and don't want them?

4 questions:

1) What color are they?
2) What shape are they in (other than fading)?
3) Do you want to sell them?
4) Where in North America are you?

That last part may kill that idea, just depends on the price and what it'd cost to ship them here. I've probably got a business address I can have them sent to to help on shipping cost. I'm not to worried about the color, mostly curious. My interior when I finish it will be blue, but that what they make die for. If nothing else I'm sure they can be recovered, like nearly everything else I have will need to be. I'm also not worried about the pocket on the bottom, if I have them recovered I'd probably delete that anyway. As long as I have the backing in good shape I can make them work. If you ask him please let me know, and I'll get you addresses for shipping quotes.

I can't find any parts in the local yards, if I'd seen a pair of those panels I would have bought them regardless of the condition. While driving I rest my left arm on the window sill, it's a habit I can't break. Over time it wears at the paint and (like on the 84 I totaled) can rust the top of the door. that area also get's pretty hot on a summer day, skin touching metal that's been in direct sunlight all day in 100+ degree weather = OUCH! I know I could run the second gen door panels, but I don't like the way they look. I was looking for a solution in between, looks like first gen covers like second gen, and had about given up when someone posted pics of the Saleen Ranger. Bingo there's the panels I was looking for, granted not dressed up like those were, but that style. Then I noticed them in a couple pictures, but still have never seen a set in person.

Another option would be the eddie bauer bronco ii thats the one ive seen all the pics of the door panels in and talking to my dad he said he wants to hold onto them until we have the second gen panels in as a back up but if we dont use them ill get a price on shipping. we should know by the end of the week or by the end of next week at the latest

I have seen a set of blue and a set of tan in the local u-pull it. Both were pretty worn or I would have jumped on the tan set. I prefer the looks of the normal blah interior grade set, but it is hard to find a pair that haven't been hacked up for a speaker.

i didn't know they offered a "full" and a "not full" what is what? i'm confused lol.. all of the 1st gens i've seen have been like mine.
except the vinyl aftermarket ones that are just smooth

ill put the panels semi back on lol (i dont feel like putting on the arm rest or the lil pegs to hold it in) then ill take some pics for all those wondering and they are in fact first gen panels cause it has the squarish inside door handle, chrome trim (i think) and the arm rest that has 3 bolts

Are you guys talking about these door panels? Had to run out in the woods to my Ranger/BII junkyard to snap a pic... These are in my 86 BII XLT.

mine are kinda like that.. but look more like a tweed (in blue), w/ electric windows..

Id like to put these doors and buckets in my 87 Ranger since the interior and gold paint would match.

But they are kinda nasty...
