Anyone have experience with them? I have read a few reviews that say smoother idle which is what im going for. The thing that im confused about though is that some reviews i have seen say that the plug for the pack is vertical where the stock one is horizontal.

I don't care for the price of the Screamin Demon coil. I got an Accel coil that works fine and it has the vertical tower. Took a gamble that it would work and it does. You can get Accel's with the horizontal plug at Summit Racing. I got a deal on the vertical plug is why I got it.

Now as for the wires don't waste your money. A good branded set of O.E. ones work just as good. I'm running 7.5mm NGK wires with the Accel coil. American cars run their ignition on voltage. Europeans run on amperage. That's the only reason to run an oversize plug wire. The voltage will run through a 6mm wire just as well as a 9mm wire.

wow thats good to know:icon_thumby:

I think the purpose of the extra size on the wire is insulation. Its not about the conductivity its about Keeping the electricity in the wire.

Of course I don't see the point of a more voltage. If you are setting off the explosion with a 20kilovolt spark a 30kilovolt doesn't make the explosion any bigger of faster.

but it makes the spark hotter which is why after market ignition systems (most of them) require you to run a colder plug so not hurt you pistons aith an extreme spark... burnt a hole in a piston on a nissan with an msd and som NGKs

i have heard the bigger coil pack you run that you need a bigger gap in your spark plugs to get the most out of the new pack. i myslef bought a accel coil pack for my 1997 4.2 and i never noticed a difference in performance nor mpg.

With the Screamin Demon you can use a spark plug gap of .065'' and it gives a hotter longer spark and hopefully, a smoother idle for me.

daniel would an upgraded coil help a 3.0 also? mine runs fine just a teeny tiny shutter at idle.

I very well could. At the same time though, it could do nothing noticeable. I think im going to try a new coil with hopes it will smooth out the idle. maybe that with new o2 sensors will help out.
