I am putting together a 1987 2wd Ranger with a 2.3t for Drag-N-Drive events.

Will be using an early block.

What oil pans fit the 2.3 Ranger ?

And does anyone know if any of the Kevco pans will fit the Ranger ?

The Ranger I am using had a 2.9 in it, so I am starting from scratch.

Thanks for any input !

Jeff

The car oil pans are front sump if memory serves and the Ranger needs a rear sump pan to clear the engine crossmember, finding a Ranger oil pan should be easy enough, the good ones are the aluminum ones used from '87 through '01... I might suggest getting a Ranger 2.3L to use for parts depending on what you have for a turbo motor... the only thing special about the turbo engines is the forged pistons and the oil drainback hole above the oil pan rail, the boss is there just needs to be drilled/tapped... that and an N/A ranger block is much less likely to have worn cylinder walls so would be a better candidate for longevity...

If you do decide to get a Ranger block to build I would stick to '86-94 to get a roller cam and after '94 things got a little odd and the distributor hole went away...
