Saw this on the freeway; think its a bit overloaded.

Right now I live in a suburb of New Orleans, LA. I was getting off the freeway the other day when I saw this Ranger in the other lane; we were passing him but I told the driver to slow down. I just had to take the picture and post it here.
THis might start another
"What have you towed with your Ranger" thread w/pics.

Btw I have a Ford Freestar and just for referrence went home and looked at the GVWR sticker on the door.
5780 lbs plus the trailer weight. That Ranger can't be more than a 2.9.

HEY!!! another guy from louisiana!!! NICE!

yea i think its a little bit overloaded

He's either very stupid or on a death wish with Satin.

What does the silky soft fabric satin have to do with this scenerio??? :P LOL, You meant SATAN right? LOL Just pokin fun at your spelling buddy. :P

I bet that little Ranger would be fun to panic stop in with that minivan in tow, lol, YEEHAW!!

I thought being able to steer was optional on 1st gens:

heaviness!!

GVWR is not curb weight, not even close. That number is what the total vehicle weight is allowed. That is, curb weight + cargo + passengers = no more than GVWR. A Freestar weighs 4200lbs.

Since we can't see inside, we really have no clue how much junk is INSIDE the van, he may well be at or beyond that 57k + lbs. Looks like a wreck waitin for a place to happen anyhow!

That guy needs to be kicked to the side of the road for endangering his fellow motorists. What an Idiot to even hit the road like that, was he headed for mexico?

people like that are why i just got an '85 ranger with newly rebuilt engine and tranny that BROKE THE BALL OFF while towing way overloaded, rolled the truck, then sold to me for $600 :icon_cheers:

NO. Actually, he was headed up the freeway (I-610) toward Slidell, which is the other way. Sort of like he was going to Mississippi; no offense to those of you from Mississippi.

Well, not only that, I used to have a trailer like that. No problem with a couple sheets of plywood or a mower or something because it already weighs 1200-1500 lbs. So add that to the tow weight. My 97 with a 4.10 rear end says no more than 2000 lbs towing weight. Now I have pulled over 3500 from Charleston Sc to New Orleans LA but my truck did have 196000 miles on it and the clutch did decide at that time to go out.

Just saying, I wonder what he payed for in the long run?

wow, i bet he could easily fit a couple harley's in the bed
