Saw a dude that got shot today....

I agree with you tpking. When I was growing up, if you had a beef with someone or they had one with you, the TWO OF YOU went somewhere & "dooked it out" & the best man won. NO knives, no guns, no "buddies" to back you up, nothing but you & the other person. That's not how it's done in this day & time. Unless you are "packin" someway or the other or else have 50 other people "covering your back", then you are in deep trouble. I've had a few ass whuppins in my time & I've given a few as well but never once did I ever have to resort to pullin my "piece" or have an army to back me up. And in the majority of cases, after the fight was over, me & the other guy usually wound up being very good friends. But that ain't "cool" anymore is it?

At the same time, I am also a believer in the Right to Bear Arms & I own a few myself. And I don't mind telling you if "ANYONE" regardless who it is or how many ever try to invade my home or steal my property or harm my family or friends, rest assured it will be the Gunfight at the OK Corral as far as I am concerned. I have the RIGHT to PROTECT not only myself but my family & friends as well. Do I believe people should be allowed to carry guns concealed LEGALLY?? YES I DO. And for the very reason that so many low life's already carry them now ILLEGALLY. But the "do gooders" in today's time don't think it will ever happen to them so therefore they are totally against that. Not me. You do what you gotta do when you gotta do it. And for the right reasons.

I got car jacked in camden 22 years ago when i was at a red light ,waiting for the green. there was nobody around .....then all of a sudden ...2 big monstrous hands reached in my car with the window half way up and the door locked. i got pulled out of my vw baja bug (breaking my glass off course, getting all cut up) then i got thrown to the ground ---others emerged from around the corner and started free for all on me,while some 16 year old a**wipe was holding 357 and pressing it to my nose (getting shot wouldnt have been so friggan painful). the moral of my story = i dont own a gun and have no desire to own one. if i did......i would of went back there like charles bronson . put the guns down and bring the ass woopins back. im a little guy ........did any of you guys see that movie "friday" with ice cube? the father catches his son with a gun and tells him to fight with out the gun.....and either way it works out.........you will still live to fight another day.........even after gettin your butt whooped.
just my 2 cents worth:icon_cheers:

I didn't say I'd shoot... I'd just hold the guy there until police showed up.

Petty criminals usually don't want to die... so they'll most likely stay put.

If you're going to pull out a gun, plan to use it or do not pull it out.

If I'm forced to pull it & aim it, rest assured I WILL pull the trigger. Hopefully that will never have to happen. I never carry a weapon in my truck unless I am going on a long trip with my family. And you can rest assured, I do not go empty handed when that happens. OR even if I am by myself. I wasn't put on this earth to let some lowlife no-good sorry you know what take what I have or harm my family just because they feel like doing it. I'll worry about the consequences AFTER I take care of my family, my truck & myself.

Yup, the lives of criminals should be brutal and short.

I do my part.

there are plenty of other things you can grab and use as a weapon to defend yourself. if i had a chance ......i would have spiked the "sob" in the heart with a tire iron and ended all of his problems -----thus , possibly preventing the violent crime on another helpless un suspecting victim. what happened to me in post 17 was tramatic, and has changed me . im a good guy and help anyone who needs help "strangers too". the times have changed for the worse.......the younger generation street punk kids get a rush out of brandishing a gun in a persons face. i guess it depends on how desperate they are will determine if they pull the trigger or not. two guys just recently shot at each other in my local bowling alley. scumbag#1 shot scumbag#2 in the gut becuase he wouldnt give up his lane. seconds after being shot........scumbag #2 pulled out his gun and shot scumbag #1 in the arm. one of those guys was a minor :(

Whatever happend to just knocking the crap out of people...

Now they are dead before they can blink an eye.

Uh he just shot a guy, the chances of him being cooperative until the cops get there are slim to none.

I guess if you had too you could just shoot him somewhere non life threatning...

Like in the groin....:icon_idea:

i try to stay out of the gun debates because everyone is entitled to their own opinions and all, but this thought:

I disagree with you, IMO I'd prefer to have a fair chance if some MF has a gun in my face,

always confuses me. many people think like this. So, you can take your gun out of your holster, takes the safety off, put a bullet in the chamber, cock it, (assuming you took all these precautions) point it at your target and shoot before they pull the trigger?

That's NUTS! LOL!

yeah, I'm Canadian...don't like to get involved with gun debates...I think having a gun is one thing...concealing a weapon for protection is quite another...

like Kaskirov says...when someone gets the drop on you with a weapon there's not much you can do...

I don't like the idea that we HAVE to protect ourselves (yah, that's why I spent 20 years in martial arts...lol) but knowing that WE CAN protect ourselves feels better...and I wouldn't want to see that taken away...

I've lived in some of the roughest neighborhoods in Toronto...kept hearing stories of how bad it was...thing was, I kept to myself, didn't go looking for trouble, and stayed clear of bars and hangouts that looked like they might house nasties...

That doesn't mean I couldn't have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I was fortunate that way...car jackings were happening in TO too, but I am kinda careful at intersections...and a door is actually an excellent weapon if you get a chance to use it...

That's too bad about the guy shot and for you having to see it. That stuff gets burnt on your memory like nothing else. I am an EMT, I work for an ambulance service and volunteer for our local fire dept and this time last year I responded to a possible gun shot wound call involving one of my neighbors. Arrived to find him on his bed, he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a 12 gauge shot gun.

Did the police make any arrests involving your situation?
