Too bad I'm so far away, and they don't have a title. Plus they claim the transmission is good, how would they know if the engine is gone LOL.

I run across this a lot here in Idaho. A vehicle for sale but claim to have lost the title, I don't understand why it is people can't keep track of important documents.

Any seller that is suggesting you can switch VINs is NOT a seller to be trusted one bit. Run !

Get the VIN and run a carfax on the rig. If the title is lost but in the clear, it's not that tuff to get a duplicate from the issuing state. It's also not that hard to get a new title in a different state as long as the vin tag is still attached in the original position. If it ain't RUN!!

I would not buy that B2.

That lost title part is ridiculous. People pull that crap out here all the time, they go get a bunch of title loans on a car, fail to pay them off and then sell it cheap before it gets repossessed. Thus the new "owner" ends up with a vehicle that they can't even get a title for until the PO's liens are paid off.

It is actually illegal in SD to sell stuff like this. It's called title skipping. You either have a title in YOUR name, or you can't sell the car because you're not the legal owner of it.

I highly doubt it's stolen (although who knows.) It's probably just a case of the owner being way too deep in a vehicle that he can't get paperwork for and deciding to dump it. Seen a couple friends get caught up in that mess, not a good deal.
