Satellite Radio?

Posting this here because in the radio forum it'll get ignored.

I want to upgrade to factory SatRad in the '99 B2500.

My question: did RBVs come with factory SatRad, and if so, was it XM or Sirius (I know they're the same now) and is it plug and play?

Anyone?

Um, I think it's been an option for a few years now. The radio head should fit into the dash ok but you will have to do some wire work. For the trouble and expense that you will go to you might as well go out and buy an aftermarket head that is Sat/HD/MP3/iPOD ready and wire that up. It will be about the same cost and trouble and get you more stuff.

Ford factory satellite radio was Sirius because XM was developed by GM/Delphi.

As silly as this sounds I recommend a standalone sat radio. Once you have it in the truck you will want it other places. I use mine in all my cars, my house, and even on the motorcycles. At the beach too!! Each reciever costs money so a standalone can be moved. Many models are small enough to hide and you will never see anything out of place.

I have to agree with this. If you buy a standalone unit you can transfer it 3 times, like if your radio breaks. In my fusion we were going to buy the lifetime but you cannot transfer it without the car being wrecked. Then its up to them if they let ya.

a stand alone unit would be awesome thats what i should have done..i got one in the ranger and i dont think ill ever go back to "regular" radio..lol

I usually have the XM in my truck but I like to be able to put it in a different vehicle if I want.

i have stand alone and love it. it's the best for long trips no matter which vehicle i choose to drive. and in my house, it rules. i don't have my tv hooked up to anything but the dvd player. sat radio handles all my news, music, etc.

Should have mentioned:

I have 2 XM stand-alones, one for the truck, one for house/other car. Just wanted to get rid of the wires and clutter. I have the antenna wire all looped on the dsah, never actually did it the right way and mounted the antenna outside.

You can get antenna's cheap on ebay. I have all the connections hidden in the vehicles and just move the unit form dock to dock.
