I just purchased a a 09 Ford Ranger Sport, 2 door ext cab. Have replaced the speakers already and now looking to add Pioneer HU and SW. My dilemma is, the Ranger came with the stock 6 CD/AM/FM stereo with Sirius Sat radio. Does anyone know if the Sirius unit can be hooked up to a Pioneer HU? The sat antenna is perm attached to the roof of the vehicle so I don't want to mess with that. The Pioneer HU's that I'm looking at come Sat ready, however, I don't want to purchase an additional Sat receiver when I already have one. Does anyone have this information? If not compatible I guess I'm stock with the stock HU. Thanks in advance and I look forward to any and all responses. Eldon

I've got a Sirius brainbox from an '06 Escape and I've failed to
find a way to make use of it with other equipment.

Possibly the newer ones are better...

I have an older Sportster with a lifetime subscription.
so I am basically stuck with what I have.

using your factory installed antenna is fairly easy.

Octane!

is your sirius detached from the radio? meaning you have the seperate serious attached to the windshield or elsewhere? if yes then you can use that with a new h.u. all you have to do is got to a sereo shop and tell them what you doing, and theyll sell you an antenna adapter that will plug into the stock antenna/sirius antenna, then go into the back of your new headunit. then you just tune into the station that picks it up, and your good to go.

I am not sure about that. But if you DO ditch that radio and stuff, send a PM. I may buy it if you sell.

ive done it before, so i know its possible. i install stereos for a living, besdies doing autobody work, and constantly fixing my ranger. hehehe

some pioneer hu have sirius antennas you can purchase to pair with them. You will not be able to hook the one built for the factory hu to it however.

Just an antenna won't get you there.

There is an ouboard tuner module that comes with it's own anenna

Look on the sirius website for hardware and on the website of the
manufacturer who's head unit you want to use.

It's highly unlikely you will be able to use that factory tuner,
but if you find out how I'd REALLY like to know.

my sirius radio is a seperate tuner with it's own display
AND it has a lifetime subscription so I'm not real hot to change...

Like I said there are pioneers that have the antenna for it. You control it from the HU because it has the tuner built in.

OK, so I did some dash and glove box pulling and this is what I found out. The Sirius Receiver is screwed in behind the glove box. The antenna will fit my pioneer Gen920 XM receiver if I mill down the side of the plug. In the end I could put in a new Pioneer HU and my XM but since I actually put in some CD's on a road trip yesterday my new Infinity's (4) sound pretty good through the OEM HU. Just for clarification, the sat box is not built into the radio, it is a separate receiver.

the satellite tuner is NEVER "built into" the head unit, the head unit is built to remote control and display for the HU, but there is ALWAYS a seperate brain box burried somewhere....

Unless you have a stand alone sat radio tuner.
