hey guys I got some new orders ( military) I am now going to san diego CA. I am hoping you guys in the area that i have been hearing about can take me under your wings about that area and all that jazz, my report date is jan 09 so if any one can direct me on appartments around the naval station and places to go out and have fun ( off road) or course. thanks.

There are some niiiiice places to live and stay in Coronado. As for wheeling, I've not been there (too far), but a lot of folks rave about Borrego Springs, and I know there are a lot of desert trails to the east.

When I was there back in 92 and 93 I rented a garage with 2 other buddies. One left the service and it left 2 of us. It was a 3 stall and we paid $75 a month it had a bathroom in it and all we added was 2 couches, end tables, some light and a TV we were set.

go threw graigslist, and pick out a few in your price range and I can give you a ideal of what the area is like and how far away away you would be.

AS for offroading not much in san diego anymore.There are a few trails but they are more for the rock crawler/trail rig. locked up and able to flex a ton.
Mostly everything is towards the desert now, plaster city etc thats legal

Well thanks for the info guys keep it comming as for the lack of offroading that sucks bigtime guess I will have to take my stang down and have some fun at race tracks. I hope they have a good auto hobby shop so I can restore my old 68 F100 that would be SWEET.!!!!

ya, the hobby shop at miramar is great. thats where i do my gears and pretty much everything. i might do my sas there but i still might do it in my garage.

as for wheeling, ya it is mostly rock crawlin and that gay prerunner crap. theres really not a whole lot of mild wheeling out here. alot of it is difficult. everyone has money and put it toward there trucks.
Corral Canyon is supposed to be good, ive been to Ocotillo Wells, which has alot of both worlds, crawling and racing. Pine valley is pretty cool when it wet out. theres plenty of places to go out heres but theres alot of laws of what you can and cant do.
a few thing to name off is no shooting, and no alcohol outside of the cap area. they're starting to patrol the Ocotillo Wells area quite a bit.

when i go shoot in the dezert, i go to Jacumba. i think its the only place in san diego county that shooting is allowed.

I know of anouter area that would proably be closer to you to go shooting Cnote, that I belive it still open. But then again might not be your type of area,as we chase any cock crawler we see back to hillcrest were they belong

im just not a big fan of the prerunner wannabes in east county with their spindal lifter rangers. allthough i have considered the dixon bros lt kit.

northerncountry: its still a while but just in time for snowboarding season up to big bear or mt high. theres plenty of wheelin up in big bear.

I hear you about the spindle lift crew,with the ass end sagging,6inch wide fiberglass fenders on stock width so the truck look like dumbo.let alone most of thier personalites...I say most, cause I have meet a few cool ones.
myself I like my truck level or a inch higer in the rear.Like to see what Im about to run over.

dixon bros kit is nice.If you want some real world "general use" feed back on the kit,the editor of fourwheeler has the kit.and has used it for a bit of everthing.

And as with allll BLM rangers,if you do a little clean up while your up there(pick up a bag of trash) it gos alongggg way with the rangers when they are about.

no problem at all. I hear you about feeling like your doing something wrong.I know of anouther place just down the grade from jacumba.That the local LEO's and BP have no problem with people shooting.I'll try posting up the gps cords as its hard to explain where it is. But if this crap go's threw good chance you could be doing something wrong just having a firearm for the most part.
