The hunt is concluded and my boy Sammy has his Ranger!!

2001 XLT 4.0 4x4

Thanks to everyone here for your help. Sam is one happy camper.

Other than some brake work it seems pretty solid, although I'm sure a few things will pop up over the next few months. Looking forward to wrenching with the boy...

Not sure if it's OHV or SOHC. Any significance to one over the other?

The truck has its share of dings and scratches and some rust on the suicide doors but overall it's pretty solid. Good clean frame, 4x4 works and shifts in/out, good tires, even inspected until next May.

Sweeet! Sam's gonna have fun with SamsDad workin on that ride.

Looks good!! Great 4.0 motor as well. Just make sure it is maintained and it will run and run!!! Oh...and stay away from salt on the roads....lol

Cool. Aside from the other things mentioned in the other thread, it's a good truck. Congrats.

nothing beats the OHV but those weird cam motors work ok too

i agree- KEEP THE SALT OFF THE BOTTOM!! and squirt pb blaster in your door latches

i use pb blaster for breaking loose nuts and bolts, i used to spray it on my door latches and hinges but after a good mudding trip the doors are squeeky again, i switched to lithium grease in a spray can, it leaves a thick residue and doesnt run. i havent had any problems since i switched. i recomend that instead.

Awesome, I have the exact same in white, ain't let me down yet,

may his roads never close and his engine never fail! (It's a Ford so it won't lol)
