Safari Pacific MX2 Build

This build never ceases to amaze me.

Looking good, glad I caught back up on the build

Man I was on the edge of my chair readinghti sbuild all the way through, and then I got to page 13 and now the pictures won't show up on my computer.... AGGHHH!

From what I was able to see this is an absolutely amazing build! Now to figure out whats going on so I can see the rest of the thread...

this thread combined with expedition portal inspired me to build my explorer into a expedition/overland rig rather than rock crawler... so on comes the sleeping platform/cargo box, more economic engine (rebuild), skinnier taller tires, gearing etc... possibly a RTT

Hey Travis, I got to ask. How much bigger is your extended back panel in comparison to a 'normal' SuperCab like mine?

Crazy build! Amazing skills! Looking through your North American Expedition....you drove through my home town, about 2 miles from my home. Small world.

He drove through my hometown when driving through south jersey.

I was looking through the sema pics. on your website, was that a trailer I saw that pops up like the tent on the back of your truck?

Hmmm... They are working right now.

Roughly a foot. I don't remember off hand what the super cab size is. My extension is 30 inches.

Thanks! Cool. I've had a few other people say that too...lol

Nope, there was a H3 behind me with an EeziAwn roof top tent. The H3 was pulling an Adventure Trailer Offroad Teardop, which are pretty cool by the way.

Testing out the brightness of the lights I take a quick trip to the desert late at night. I'd say there's plenty of it. They also light up the surrounding area nicely too.

Once again the camper and bed come off the truck to finish up some loose ends, including a roll on bed liner and chassis work.

076.jpg

With the bed liner material needing to dry I decided to tackle that first by masking off the exterior.

077.jpg

I then mix up the liner material Wil gave me and applied it to the inside of the bed.

078.jpg

Also I put some on the tailgate.

The frame has rusted since the last time the frame was sand blasted.

008.jpg

Needless to say I re-blasted the frame.

With better access without the bed installed I start working on new shock mounts. First I cut the temporary shock bar out.

010.jpg

Then attached the charcoal canister for measurements on the new shock mounts.

011.jpg

After measuring I strip all the components off the frame, mask the truck and then finally paint the frame.

012.jpg

The next day after curing I reattach all the components. I also add a longer breather hose to the charcoal canister.

013.jpg

With the possibility of using the stock spare tire holder in the future, I decide to double check if the socks will clear by cranking up a larger spare.

014.jpg

Everything looks good.

015.jpg

Since I don't know where everything will land with the new axles and new Fox Shocks I'll be installing, I created adjustable stock mounts.

016.jpg

Mount partially completed. From here I can finish building the mount with the bed and camper installed, so I call it a day on the mounts.

Once the bed liner has completely cured and the chassis work was completed, I reinstall the bed and camper.
