I think 2.25 pipe will take out some of the deep rumbleness, it won't be too much quieter, actually if anything it would be making it louder. What about gettin a small glass pack like 8 -12" and just putting it in place of the pipe that you need to replace? it will make it quieter and you wouldn't have to change much of anything.

I don't think you're going to hear any difference because of the tubing size. The muffler will be the determining factor in how loud the thing is.

If you want good volume, then go with a Flowmaster Delta Flow 40. if you want to cut it down some, then the Flowmaster Delta Flow 50.

Mine sounds good when I get on it, and along a certain rpm range, but it's quiet in the cab most of the time, and when I'm on the highway, I don't really hear it at all.

Try a thrush welded it has the same sound as a flow 40 but it is a little quieter i run one on my 2.9 and it sounds good when i get on it but cruising i cant even hear it and it is right under the pass side seat

Glasspacks, no way...I don't like the sound of those. I am only removing part of the pipe to do some work underneath of my truck. When I had my exhaust angled back to put on my tips it was routed to a certain way thru the spare tire rack and therefore the pipe needs to come out. It's a good portion and I only wanted to know if going back to 2.25 piping will make it quieter.

I had the 50 series for 3.5 years with 2.25 piping and I wanted something with more sound...I stepped up to the OG 40 & 2.5 piping. I tried the 40 deltaflow last year and did not care for it much, I won't put the 50 back on just way to quiet for me. Maybe I'll try 2.25 with the original 40 and who knows I may just like the way it sounds.

Well I meant glasspack as in supplementing the flowmaster. so it would be like 2 mufflers...
