As part of my ongoing 'ranger retention project' I will be applying rust inhibitor to the frame, suspension components, and underside of the cab/bed. With any luck, by the end of it I'll have enough pictures to do a write-up for the tech section (rust treatment is seemingly missing)

How difficult would it be to remove the cab, or at least raise enough to reasonably apply the paint? I've pulled a bed before with the help of another body but am unsure if the cab would require a hoist.

Is there a recommended rust inhibitor? A specific brand or product? Other than perhaps the front suspension, rust converter wouldn't be the correct product for me to use... I've at least figured that part out.

I'm going to be using chassis saver on mine. Pretty well reccomended here and elsewhere on the worldy pipes.

Corroseal if your going over rust, POR15 or Chassis Saver for clean metal, though any quality oil based enamel is going to provide plenty of protection when applied to clean metal in my opinion. My mustang is done with a regular can of rustoleum industrial oil based enamel and its still rust free after 20 years.

Pretty much the entire frame is lightly rusted, leafspring brackets and front knuckles being flakey, I'm planning on covering the currently nonrusty underbody of the cab and bed as a preventative, is the a product that would do both? Chassis Saver looks to have a cult following

Both chassis saver and por15 can be applied over light surface rust. But you should still clean it as much as humanly possible.

My current plan is to pressure wash the frame, then do a once over with a wire brush, pressure wash again, then do paint prep (degreaser and what have you)

Regarding the cab removal, anyone done this before? Is it easy enough for two guys to do on their own without a lift/hoist? Does a ton of stuff need to be removed in the engine bay or is it just a matter of undoing the wiring loom, throttle cable, and ac/heater assy
