runs hot with the ac on

hey guys, have a 1988 ranger with a new crate motor with less tha 10.000 miles on it, has new water pump, thermostat 160 degree, fan clutch, radiator cap, belts hoses tune up stuff dang near everything underhodd replaced with motor to include new fuel injectors. fixed ac a week ago, now when the ac is turned on, truck gets real hot, damn near boiling out of radiator when turned off, cant figure out why. any thoughts. gets hot down south,,, thanks for any replies

is the ac working properly do you have cold air coming out the vents.
first thing that comes to mind is the radiator or condensor core plugged

or, consider, the stock radiator is a single core, and completely inadequate for an air conditioned vehicle.

ac works great, very cold. radiator is new as well, and is for an air conditioned model, thought i may have put the fan on the fan clutch backwards. got home from work today and checked, fan is on correctly and blowing towards the motor

my bronco 2 used to overheat with the air on, replaced the radiator with a 3 core explorer radiator, fixed everything.

Yeah, it probably just can't handle the heat AND the A/C. A bigger rad will help that.

Make sure your coolant is the correct ratio. Also, did you replace your radiator cap when you got a new radiator?

My 96 Ranger 2.3L runs around 210*F with the A/C on. Thou, it is also in the 100's degrees outside too. And the cooling fan stays well locked for most part. So its a gutless Ranger, but at least I'm chilling in a 40*F A/C breeze.
