Hey guys. I'm picking up a 2.8L V6, imagining I convert it to Duraspark ignition, how could I set it up to run out of the car? Long story short, its going in a VW Baja Bug. Basically, what do I need to run the motor off a battery on the shop floor? Thanks guys!

Can't you just get longer battery cables?

If you do the complete conversion just use the stock TFI coil you need key on hot to the module red wire and coil pos. Key on start to the module white wire then whatever you need for the guages and alternator/regulator. It will run off of the battery with one wire hot to the coil and module.

it's a piece of cake, all you need is a wiring diagram for the duraspark ignition module/wire it up, engine ground, and fuel.

Thanks for the link to the diagrams! According to the diagram for 83-85, I see other than the actual harness it only needs power positive to the coil, and a white and red wire to a connector to the ignition box. Are those red and white wires going to the ignition box from the car, just positive power and ground? Considering I don't have the rest of the truck, what would I plug those into?

You guys have been a huge help, thanks everyone!

Make sure it is bolted down to something, since I am assuming you don't have a dyno stand.
