I recently had to change my intake gasket. During the removal I broke a fuel injector. I ordered a new one from the ford dealership $105.00. The injector had a different serial number and the tip opening was different but the man at the parts counter told me that he cross referenced the injector and that it was the same. Since the install the Bronco starts up fine but runs rich. It has a slight shimmer in the idle. Can this one replacement injector be the culprit? Maybe it is pulsing more fuel than the others. Or could something else be causing this rich running condition? The truck ran fine prior to the repair. The reason I replaced the intake gasket was because I broke a thermostat housing bolt and had to have the intake fixed at a machine shop.

Have you pulled the computer codes? A bad O2 could cause it to run rich.

The computer never gave any codes. I ended up replacing all the fuel injectors. I found a great deal on Ebay. I also replaced my computer coolant sensor. So far the bronco is running better than ever before. I have yet to drive the Bronco on a long trip. I will do that soon. So far so good. I still believe the guy at the parts counter goofed up. I am out $105.00 because of this.

my '89 ford bronco II ,2.9 L would start but not run more than 10 seconds.we replaced the co 2 sensor and the coolant temp sensor. It starts but is running rich and cannot put a load on engine. It use to do it going up a steep hills, now its all the time and I'm at a loss. I also replaced all tune up components and fuel pressure regulator looks recently replaced. HELP !!!

did you go to pep boys? i swear they only hire idiots. i got a brake cylinder for the rear drums on my 88 BII. dumbass behind the counter gave me the wrong part. so i put it back in the box and go to take it back. well, there's brake fluid on it and the guy wont take it back. i said, "because YOU gave me the wrong part, i cant get my money back?" yep. i paid $40 for a $20 part. and yes, i do not shop there anymore.
