The evil gremlins that came with my truck have been slowly causing the idler pulley bearing to pack it in over the last few weeks. I took it off today and called the bearing shop about a new one. It'll be a couple days to get here.
For the record, I did pop the dust seals and try repacking it with grease; that was no help. It sounds like I've got a cat stuck in the engine bay and he's not happy about it LOL
Is there any real danger in driving with the idler pulley removed? My tensioner is in good shape and there's not a ton of deflection with the pulley out, nor is there any belt slap or slippage that I can tell with it gone.
Am I good to go until the new bearing gets here?
