Does anyone know if I will have to make any changes to my harness to keep the DIS once I run an la3 with my turbo 2.3 motor? Keeping DIS system from factory 2.3 NA and want to know if everything is plug and play. My preliminary research has made me feel that I don't have to rewire anything to keep the DIS working as usual. Any advice?

are you using stock programming? those are vane air if memory is on...they dont use dis. one system is crank position and spark angle word vs dizzy pip and spout.

incorporate mega jolt or mega jolt lite maybe.

I know @scotts90ranger has pulled it off. Curious to know how he did it. Wiring diagrams make it look like the the tfi connector and DIS connectors are wired up the same. I had thought that the DIS module acted like its own computer, driving ignition as long as it had certain inputs from the ecm.

I'm assuming you are using your stock Ranger harness and repinning it for the LA3 ECM (like 10 wires need to move)? If so then yes it just works... The DIS system has the crank sensor going to the DIS module which then sends a signal back to the ECM like the TFI distributor would do so it can deal with injection.

Interesting. I wonder if that holds true on other models? Sure could make a fuel injected manual 5.0 swap into an earlier truck more appealing. Mustang or F150 manual ECU with DIS...

The problem with any other application is the goofy two vane hall effect crank sensor... I haven't even tried to figure out how that works, haven't had a reason to...

This system is more reliable than TFI but it's basically the same thing, just the module is more reliable...
