Rough idle

I would be willing to bet that your MAF is just dirty. Most people over oil the K&N filter and the MAF sensor wires get dirty.

hmm, ok then ill clean the MAF before i put it on, hopefully fixes everything, because im getting it inspected soon

Turns out it wasnt the MAF that was making it idel rough, in the pic of under my hood, do you see the air muffler? of course the MAF is inside of that, but were the K&N bolts up to it, its loose, the clips that hold the fron of the air muffler are worn out and dont keep the cover in tight, so the MAF doesnt get a good reading. Found all this out when i was screwing around with it last night, if i held the air muffler tight, it would smooth out and idel fine, so i just need to rig somethin up to keep the air muffler tight....better than buying a new MAF

So what you are saying that you are getting a air leak after the MAF correct? If you get any incoming air in the intake tube once the air has been metered through the MAF it will idle rough and usually runs like crap. How does it run on the top end?

you can make it real simple and do away with all that junk in there and fab up an MAF adapter out of a shower drain- check tech library. or do like you said and get a full stock setup out of the junkyard.

here's what mine looks like-

once i figure a good way to mount it i'll do away with that last bend, and put in some kind of barrier to keep water away from it. also i don't know where your factory air intake temp sensor is, but on mine it's inside the airbox before the filter, so when I move it I'll also have to cut a hole in the intake pipe and mount the temp sensor in there. another note, don't try to use the maf adapters from auto zone, I have one and the diameter of the pipe isn't right, wouldn't run with the MAF inside, had to use the factory housing to keep the truck running. So don't waste your money. :)

yea it has an air leak after the MAF, ill get it tightened, and then it should idel fine. as for top-end performance, its really not that bad, it doesnt miss or anything driving it

yea the way urs is set up is the way ill run mine most likely, ill do away with the old "air muffler enclosure" and clamp the MAF right to the intake

By the way thanks for all the help guys :)
