rough Idle

1986 BII V6 2.9 just bought, 99K , idling rough with smoke. new plugs fowled just by idling for several minutes. only one plug was left clean. Runs good but with smoke mech says its running rich. injectors all cleaned last thing to check is the O2 sensor. anyone with advise please help, my 16 year olds first car. Thanks EXT

Wouldn't hurt to pull the FPR vacuum line either to check if it has raw fuel (it would be leaking gas right into the intake plenum). This will also cause an extremely rich condition and sometimes may or may not throw a code.

One more idea, you said that you just bought the truck, did you ask the previous owner if it sat for a long time. I had the same symtoms, and the truck sat for over a year before I bought it and the fuel turned to varnish, just a thought.
