hello all,
I have an 02 ranger, 3.0, I have started getting a rough idle, and codes that say #2&3 cylinder misfiring, I changed plugs, wires, coil pack, checked the injectors, the all have good voltage, I listened to them, they are clicking away, I checked the idle air control valve, it seems to be working, with the truck running, when I unplug the idle control valve, it stalls right out, is that supposed to happen? I thought it would just give me a rough idle, will a cam position sensor give me the misfire code? I don't have a intake manifold leak, I just hope it's not a head gasket, I don't want to spend that kind of money right now, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

If engine is warmed up and you unplug the IAC Valve RPMs should drop to 500 or engine can also stall, either is good, it means no vacuum leaks.

P0302 and P0303 are pretty specific, so no P0300 or P0316?

What did the old spark plugs in #2 and #3 look like?

Did you triple check Coil Pack firing order and trace each spark plug wire to it's cylinder?

3 4
2 6
1 5
front

Wires can get crossed and the 5 6 4 side can get mixed up
