rough idle and poor gas mileage

hello, i have a 1992 ranger 4.0l v6 2wd i just replaced the feul pressure regulator because it whent in my truck. now i am seeing the same signes i had when it was going. there is a very harsh idle (stalls if i dont rev the engine for abit) it almost feels like its misfiring. also i am getting 3.3km's to a litre. i took out the catalitic converters and they are perfect. spark plugs look good. what would you guys recomend? thank you very much for your time and input.

Unplug your MAF and see if it runs anybetter. if so then hte MAF is bad. Whatever the problem it sounds like it is emissions related. Most of the americans on this site cant convert the metric mileage, but im guessing your getting about 12mpg.

ok. also today when i was driving every stop sign and light it would studder and misfire, as i gave it gas it ran smooth the check engine light came one for about 3 minutes then disapeared, never came back yet

the above post isnt with the maf unplugged this is just earlier today i will unplug the maf tomorrow morning

check the fuel filter, same thing happened to my buddies truck, it was so clogged you couldnt even blow through it...plus its like 10$ cheap insurance...good luck!

i changed the fuel filter a couple weeks ago it was bad but its brand new now

i changed the spark plug wires and the plus (which were as black as ive ever seen a spark plug and smelt terrible) seemed to run abit better but now its back to normol, every morning i start it and she stalls unless i hold it at 2000 rpm and wait till i hear the coolant flow through the engine then it idles ruogh but wont stall

lately it also seems to take alot more forse to push the gas pedle

check the o2 sensors. mine would stall if i didn't have my foot on the gas/brake at stop lights
