ok so ive been reading the reviews of lifts..and have found out about the issue of the rough country drop plate punching holes in the front diff...but then i hear that the system has been redesined so that this doesnt happen but then right after that i hear that it has not. lol well anyway i have done some searching and have not been able to find a definate answer as to if the new system still has the same problems...?

and i guess if any one has a pic of a drop plate as apposed to drop brackets (if there even differnt idk) that i could see so that i know what im looking for in lifts...that would be greatly appreciated..

thanks in advance....

the only way you will punch holes in the diff is if you run no extended bumpstops and have the d35. You will be fine if you run the extended bumpstop drops in the kit if you have the d35 axle. The d28 pig clears the bracket, i run no bumpstops on mine and have bottomed out several times and no diff damage. I have the new style brackets.

Problem is, the bumpstop takes away a large portion of your suspension travel.

88mudder, you have a Rough Country kit that doesn't use a drop plate bracket?

ok cool thats kinda what i was thinkin drop plates are...they use stock mounts just lower them right??...lol brings me back to this question...does the new kit come with drop plate or drop bracket...?? and if it comes with a drop bracket....would i be able to say buy a sky jacker breacket and put it in its place...? and not mess up the lift??

Correct. (driver side bracket)

On verification,
I would call the distributor or manufacturer and ask, and have the guy on the phone find a kit, open it himself and verify.

So the Skyjacker drop bracket doesn't have the clearance issues? Does Rough Country have a drop bracket?

i think you would be happier if you spent a little more $$$ and got a duff, sykjacker, superlift, etc. i've installed a duff kit and a rough country kit. the duff kit is WAY BETTER the the rough country in my opinion. i believe its a better kit mainly because the holes actually lined up 99% of the time, and the bracketry is beefier (unless rough country has improved their kit since i installed)

i never had any diff damage with the rough country though i installed it on an '85 b2 witha dana 28. i thrashed that b2 mercilessly

hope this helps
Rick

The reason I asked is that I put on a set of Rough Countries leveling coils and the alignment shop said they can't align it. They said even with the largest bushings they can't align it.

3" springs or 4+?
