i'm building a 302 and so far it's in the short block form...but i can't turn it over by hand even with the balancer as leverage...my main bearing clearence was a little under 0.002"...is the to tight and the source of the problem

oh never damn mind....i found the problem. the cap bearing on piston 8 fall off or something and when i tightened the nuts up the somehow....one bearing was on top of the other...but now i can't get the rod cap off to fix this problem.

Give it whack with either something wood or brass and it'll come off. Replace those bearings, they're screwed now.

And make sure the bearing caps on both rods and mains are installed the correct way, main caps have an arrow pointing toward the front and should be in the order they're numbered (but not always, it pays to check this before taking a motor apart) Rod caps have the bearing tab cutouts facing each other, with the numbered side of each toward the outside of the block.
