Roof Ditch Molding - Install/Remove

I got a 2002 Ranger w/67k miles and it is very clean.

After about 2 weeks of driving... Parts started falling off

seriously the drivers side Roof Ditch Molding came off

This does not seem to be a commonly needed part,
so I guess I will have to go find one (white)

But before I can do that I need to learn how to remove them!

I'm not a body guy. More mechanic. But aren't those just glued on? You could probably glue the old one back on if you still have it in one piece. Clean both mating surfaces and get a good autobody glue to stick it back on. i could be wrong. Someone else on here has probably dealt with this before.

Now, if parts start falling off my very clean, low mileage truck after I've had it for 2 weeks, I'd start thinking maybe there is something in the history that I should know about. Previous damage and a shoddy repair?

So far that is the only problem I have had.

I got the replacement part (yeah it was not very urgent LOL) and find it has studs on it.
So it seems I need to thread it through the body to the interior.

As far as gluing it back on... If my son had pulled over to find it when it fell off that could have been an option

Its held on with 3m double sided tape.

Frankly I do not see HOW!

If you look at the part I received there are two Studs that seem to go through the body!

I wonder what will I find under the back panels up by the seatbelt tie down.
(any have or can get pictures? it's a 2002 Ranger standard cab)

If opening up that area is crazy, the only way I can see to glue it would be
to rip the studs off the molding and then glue it.

I think those 2 round black things still on the truck pull off to reveal 2 holes. Then you put the glue or tape on the surface of the pads on the new piece. Then you just stick it on. Im just guessing on this but it seems likely.

Well I would also have to break the studs off the new piece!
Maybe my picture was not that clear, where the pads are there is also a 1 1/2" stud

Pull some of the interior trim down. It may be bolted in.
