I think @Shran had good luck pulling dents on the roof skin by welding studs to the dent and using the threaded stud to pull out the dent.

Looks to me like something fell on it. Was like that when I got it. Previous owner was doing construction work, so who knows.

Access from inside is going to be a no go. There is an additional layer of structure all along the outer edge of the cab roof to provide roll over protection. You are probably going to have to use body hammers and a dent puller from the exterior.

All you need is time.... and some tools.

Go to your local Harbor Freight and get a body tool kit like this... 7 or 9 piece kit

a stud gun like this... don't install a bunch of studs right next to each other, the heat from the gun will warp the metal, spread them out around 4" apart.

Don't be afraid to use a lot of studs...

and watch a lot of body videos on youtube.

Hopefully your door wasn't damaged as you can use it as a guide to get the gap correct.

Once you are satisfied with the general shape and dents removed, then move on to a slight coat of body filler. Then you can prime and paint. But that's another story...

Wasn't on the roof but I'd sure use my stud gun for that if I needed to. Worked great on the back of the cab!

It’s a 97 ranger regular cab. Haven’t pulled the headliner out yet.

Take it to someone who knows what they're doing. That's a bad place for a novice.

You could just fill them in with Bondo too. Doesn't look like they are super deep... That would be a lot easier than pulling them out if you don't want to take the time to do that.

Or…….. even easier. Clean the rust up a bit and touch up the paint.

Unless you know what you are doing, it will be near impossible to fix the seam roll over near the corner of the window. IF I was going to fix it, I would cut, pull, and then weld it. I would just bondo and fiberglass it to prevent rust, Maybe open the gap with a pry bar, not prying it, stick the bar in the small gap, hit the bar (lower L) with a hammer, towards the window.
